How Halo was born

When challenged with bringing home premature triplets, co-founders Ken and Carrie Garcia used innovative methods to make their home as clean as possible. In their quest, Halo was born. In early 2007, Halo Technologies introduced the newest revolution in floor care – HALO™ Ultraviolet Vacuums. Using the same ultraviolet technology used for decades in water purification and hospital sterilization, HALO Ultraviolet vacuums are the first and only vacuums that can kill dust mite eggs, flea eggs and certain common viruses, bacteria and mold on the surface of your carpeting in as little as a second, safely – without the use of chemicals. UVC light science comes home

Some very smart folks in white lab coats put the HALO germ-killing ultraviolet light to the test. Here’s what they found. In their first test of 60 dust mite eggs exposed to HALO UV light for just one second, two hatched. Two. That’s a kill rate of 97%. Results against flea eggs were even better. The HALO Ultraviolet Vacuum killed 100% of flea eggs after just one second of exposure. All eggs exposed were dead. E. coli and Staphyloccus Aureus? Over 99.99% exposed to the HALO Ultraviolet Vacuum’s UV light were dead and gone by the one second mark. The outcomes against certain other bacteria, fungi and viruses exposed to the HALO Ultraviolet Vacuum’s UV light were equally impressive. More than 99% were rendered non-infectious after only one second. By five seconds, they were undetectable – reduced by more than 99.99%. Conclusion? The HALO™ Ultraviolet Vacuum is one lean, mean germ-killing machine. Scientifically speaking. Read More »
